This process is rasterization: the renderer translates vector paths, fills, gradients and text into pixels at your requested output size. The SVG is sanitized before it reaches the preview or renderer, and the source remains unchanged on your device. A higher multiplier creates more pixels for high-density screens or printing, but it also increases memory use and file size.

Creating practical WebP assets from SVG

WebP is a useful delivery format when a site needs responsive raster artwork with modern compression and optional transparency. It can work well for illustrated banners, complex icons and graphics that would be bulky as PNG. Exporting from the vector source also avoids the accumulated damage caused by converting an already compressed JPG. Create each size from the SVG master instead.

Check the final asset in the browser and layout where it will be published. Transparency, colour profiles and very thin lines can appear slightly different against the real page background. Quality controls file weight for lossy WebP output, while width, height and resolution determine how many pixels are available. A modest, correctly sized file is usually more helpful than a huge image scaled down by CSS.

Settings that affect the result

Width and height define the artwork's pixel proportions before the resolution multiplier is applied. Keep the aspect-ratio lock enabled to avoid stretching. The background setting is particularly important for JPG because that format has no alpha channel; PNG, WebP and AVIF can retain transparent areas when no opaque background is required.

Fine lines can look soft when exported at a very small size, so choose dimensions close to the size where the image will actually appear. Quality, privacy and honest limitations

Keep the original file until you have opened and inspected the download. Conversion can preserve supported visual features, but it cannot restore missing detail or guarantee identical rendering in every application.
